Heyheyhey!
Joy here! :) It’s been a while since I’ve had enough time to check in, and actually, I shouldn’t be doing this now – but I AM ANYWAY! I’m so sick and tired of all these damn assignments, really. Bring on the winter break already!!!
Speaking of the winter break: for me, it will be time to get out my skis and hit the slopes. I’m a complete snow addict, although I might not be the best skier in the world! For me, there’s nothing like the feeling of zooming down the snow. So I thought I’d just share some pictures of my two pairs of skis today!

I got the elegant black, red and gold skis three years ago as a present from my mother. I bought the cute black & white ones with my own money last week! Some of you non-skiers might be wondering, what is one girl doing with TWO pairs of skis to her name?!?! Well, different types of skis perform different functions. My red skis are my “normal” skis that are great for “normal skiing”. My black & white skis have twin tips (they’re turned up at both ends), and they’re great for doing tricks and skiing backwards. They’re also wider than the red ones, so I can ski in deeper snow better!
Gotta run now. Take care, and until next time!

Heey everyone! It’s the Emma here. After feeling quite low the last couple of days I’m happy and ready to post!
I got several things to say today, first of all (and probaly the most boring part), I’m so overly happy because; well I’m just going to admit it, for years now I’ve have built a habbit which is that I eat some candy everyday after school. Well, I do train and bike so it’s not like I’m fat. Well I just want me to be able to stop. So my answer to all of this is one thing: smoothie. I’m crazy in loooovvee with smoothies, healthy and great! Can it get any better? oh yes they take no time to make ;)
Second thing: Does anyone know Barbara Hulanicki? no? Biba maybe? no? oh well, she was a fashion designer in 1964 where she started her famous shop Biba. The shop became famous, not only for it’s closet but also for the style of the shop which was decorated in dark colors and inspired by Art Deco (if people remember that theme from sd).
Well Babara have today lunched a new line with Topshop and you can now buy it. I’m so crazy in love with it. I’ll spend some money on it soon ;D To see the collection, click here.
Who doesn’t love CHOCOLATE?! I know I’m certainly an immense choc addict myself. Right now, it’s just before dinner, and I’m snacking on one of these:
![]()
…Cadbury Freddo Frogs, a long-time Australian favourite! They come in so many flavours, but right now I’m just eating a good old plain milk chocolate one. You can get them in flavours such as white chocolate, “Crunchie”, strawberry-filled, mint-filled…my favourite Freddo is the “Clinker” one, which is normal chocolate with bits of “Clinker” lollies in it. You know how almost every country has their own “iconic” chocolate maker? Well, in Australia, that icon is Cadbury. www.cadbury.com.au if you want to see more!
I must say, Cadbury is definitely NOT my favourite chocolate though! Here’s a guide to some of my personal favourites…
#1: Milka

Words can’t describe how much I ADORE Milka chocolate!!! I’m pretty sure it’s a Swiss-Austrian brand. My friends had been raving about it before we left on our school trip to Europe, and when I tried it in Austria…WHOA! It’s very smooth chocolate that’s not overly sweet or overly un-sweet. Lovely. You could just walk into a shop blindfolded, buy ANY flavour and you’d still be totally satisfied, but I think my personal favourite is the one in the picture, “Schoko & Keks” (”Choco & Biscuits”). I do love ALL flavours though…in fact I had 2.2kg of Milka chocolate in my suitcase when I returned home from Europe! And one of my real-life Austrian friends sent me a fresh Milka supply in the mail the other day :D www.milka.com for more (then choose a country for different languages. Sorry, no English available :p)
#2: Mozartkugeln

Ah yes. That chocolate ball named after the great musical genius! I brought 9 bags of this stuff home from Austria lol! I’m a great fan of marzipan (that green bit in the middle of the chocolate), so it’s only natural for me to love this. The one in the picture is made by the company Mirabell, and it’s probably the most commonly sold one…however, the ORIGINAL Mozartkugeln are made in a cafe called Konditorei Fürst out in Salzburg, Austria (Mozart’s birthplace). Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to try out the original ones just yet! www.original-mozartkugel.com/index_e.php for info (in English) about the ORIGINAL Mozartkugeln :)
#3: Lindt

Finally, something I CAN buy in Australia :) Although of course, we don’t have as many flavours as in Europe. I love Lindt’s silky smooth, fine texture and unique concepts. I don’t like EVERY kind of Lindt though…the ones I do love tend to be the ones that cost more, though..lol! I love the “Petits Desserts” (shown above) and the “Swiss Tradition” boxes the most. www.lindt.com/int for all the info.

Last but definitely not least – I want to share with you one of my favourite chocolate destinations in my city. It’s a chocolate cafe (they do seem to be the latest trend, don’t they!) called Koko Black, and it serves up some of the most DIVINE handmade chocolates, drinks, and specially-created chocolate desserts! Check out www.kokoblack.com.au and you’ll immediately feel hungry :p I usually have the “Belgian Spoil”, which allows me to have a bit of everything, including 2 handmade chocolates of my choice. I love meeting up with friends at Koko Black, it’s the perfect spot! Here’s a picture of my beloved Belgian Spoil for your enjoyment:

…And on that note, it’s time for dinner. Hope you enjoyed my chocolate delights!

…Always leaving things to the last minute. That’s the story of my life!!! And the story of the lives of 98% of my friends, too (I really envy that 2% who actually get things done well before the deadline)! My mother hates me for it :p
It’s 2.45pm in Australia right now and I currently have under 2 hours to finish a history assignment before I must drop it into the assignment submission box at uni! Phew, luckily I live only 10-15 minutes away from my university, which means that as soon as I’m done, I can just race out the door and get a bus to go there!
Today is a really chilly, windy and rainy day in Australia…we’re fast approaching winter, and boy am I excited! I’m a huge ski nut, and weather like this brings snow to the mountains…the Australian ski season is due to start on June 10, and I’m SO excited!! You know, many people have reacted with surprise when I tell them that there IS snow in Australia…but it’s true! However, we only ever have snow on the mountains – never in our towns and cities :( And even then, we never get as much snow on our mountains as what you get in Europe and North America! Also, when I say “chilly”…it’s only actually 15° C (59° F)!!! Australian winters are nowhere near as cold as Northern Hemisphere winters, for sure.
I better go and finish that assignment before it’s too late. Adios for now!

3 Years

Oh yes, it’s stardolls 3. birthday and what are we getting?
Oh yeah! crappy closet! isn’t that just amazing? don’t you wanna buy everysing
le piece and treat it like it was your rarest item?
No, you don’t. Oh thank you stardoll for your gifts to the people who keeps you going. That was very kind of you.
I don’t wanna sound mad when I write this cause i’m not, just very annoyed. Well I think Stardoll should have done some more out of it, I mean, I like the idea with the 3 on the closet but couldn’t thye at least have made a bigger deal out of the things they putten it on?
Doesn’t seem like it.
Cake :D
That is exactly what I’ve spend my day doing, baking. Me and my bff went to her palce and spend our interre afternoon baking a huuuuuggee chokolate cake, yummy :P
When I’m writting this i’m sure she’s still baking them, we used over a kilo of butter and 2 kilos of sugar! wow, her kitchen is one big mess, but the cake is good.

Hi everyone just a quick note from me :)
Well today is earth day, so that means we’re gonna “give presents to the earth” and no I don’t meen running around dancing a crazy dans and singing an idiana song (even though I’m sure it would be lots of fun). I mean helping the evoirment. Which means; turn off the computer your sitting at, turn off your tv and you phone and.. yeah you know where I’m going. Lets give the earth and envoirment a gift, shall we?
Hey all!
So, my first post here at La Sérotine :) After a few, um, obstacles, Emma and I hope to finally create a place where everyone is truly welcome and where “anything goes”…a place where we can just share our writing with you all, no matter what the writing is about! We will soon also be joined by Claire, to make us one very dynamic writing team!
Firstly, I thought that maybe I should tell you a little about the name of our blog. For those of you who understand French, you know that “La Sérotine” means “The Bat”. Some of you might already be thinking, “wow, that’s an unusual name to choose!”. We chose it not so much for its meaning, but because we simply love how the word sounds! French is such a gorgeous language…I’ve studied it for many years now, but still, each word is absolute honey to my ears!
Speaking of French, that’s my next class at university today,at 3pm :) It’s currently 12.30pm in Australia, and I’m at home right now, just relaxing a bit before I get the bus back to university. I did have a class this morning, for Mediaeval Europe History, for 2 hours…gosh, I have to admit that I just could NOT stay awake during the class! I’m TOTALLY passionate about history, but I just haven’t been getting enough sleep lately! Probably because of that enormous law assignment I had to finish the other day, which left me staying up until 3am lol. But most embarrassingly, I KNOW that the lecturer noticed me constantly drifting off to sleep, because he kept looking at me each time I jolted awake!!!
As you can tell, La Sérotine will be as much a fashion and Stardoll chronicle as it will be a chronicle of our REAL lives. For after all, our real lives and real emotions remain the core of our existence…fashion and Stardoll are some of those little gems amongst our lives :)
Until next time,
Joy <3
